Die Setter Training
PMA’s die setter training is organized into two skill sets, both including PMA’s lockout/tagout courses.

Part 1: Removal and Installation of the Die
This training introduces different types of clamping systems, die assembly removal and installation processes, how to determine and properly set press shut height, and how to set and adjust common types of straighteners and uncoiling equipment.

Part 2: Feeding and Straightening the Coils
This training introduces air operated slide feeds, grip feeds, servo roll feeds, and mechanical roll feeds. It also addresses how to thread the die, prepare the press for production and how to make the first hit.

The metal spinning learning path familiarizes an operator with metal spinning processes, equipment and tooling.


Press Shop Operations Training
PMA’s press technician training is organized into three skill sets, all including PMA’s lockout/tagout courses.

Part 1: Press Shop Fundamentals
This training prepares new operators to safely use hand-operated presses, stack and inspect parts, and monitor progressive die operations.

Part 2: Feeding and Straightening the Coils
This training introduces air operated slide feeds, grip feeds, servo roll feeds, and mechanical roll feeds. It also addresses how to thread the die, prepare the press for production and how to make the first hit.

Part 3: Automatic Press Operations
This training prepares employees to run presses with minimal supervision.
