John Aduroja – Middle Tennessee State University, Mechatronics Engineering
Scholarship amount
- PMA Educational Foundation: $750
- Tennessee District: $1,500
- Total: $2,250
From an early age, John Aduroja had a passion for building machines and robotic systems. As a child, he used plastic bottles, caps, rotors from dismantled DVD players and wood pieces to create cars. As John grew, he utilized the principle of electromagnetic induction to power a light bulb and created a water heater during his time at his high school STEM club. John also made a temporary repair on the skid plate of his dad’s car. All of John’s led him to pursue a career in mechatronics engineering in college.
His career choice will enable him to work in companies that develop AI-oriented robotic systems and automated programmable logical control (PLC) machines. John intends to participate in as many internships and co-op opportunities as possible. He plans on taking the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and the Principles of Engineering (PE) exam to become a licensed professional engineer. He also plans on writing an honors thesis on manufacturing technology, focusing on automation and AI-driven robotics in his junior year, and achieving a capstone project on an AI robotics machine in his senior year.
John is an extremely driven student and has won several awards, including bronze honors at the international Youth Mathematics Competition (IYMC), making the dean’s list, ranking in the top 10% for a national exam, achieving the 95th percentile in the SAT worldwide and winning various debate tournaments. John plans to participate in the National Robotic Challege (NRC) and similar competitions to enhance his skills.
Among John’s experiences include working a teaching assistant to the chairman of the engineering department and volunteering to tutor high school students and adults for national examinations.
Congratulations, John! We look forward to hearing about your bright future!
