next event

Wednesday, April 24, 2024
April 24 & December 11, 2024 | 2:00-3:30 p.m. ET | Virtual Event

The second part of the 2024 On the Shop Floor series, on December 11, 2024, will highlight two metal formers that have made recent investments in new servomechanical presses, and describe the benefits they’re enjoying, including enhanced productivity, throughput, quality and tool life.

Each of these two sessions includes a short, narrated video shot on the plant floor, followed by in-depth panel discussions that include input from the online live audience.

Featured Metal Formers

  • Concord Tool & Manufacturing (Mt. Clemens, MI): This family-owned metal former opened its doors in 1966, and has become a preferred supplier for Toyota and other OEMs. Following a major expansion in 2017 and the addition of a new toolroom and robotic-spot-welding operation in 2018, the firm invested in its first servo press (a 600-ton Nidec Minster model) in 2024. The results have been so impressive that it’s already ordered a second servo press, an 800-ton model.
  • T & C Stamping, Inc. (Athens, AL): T & C provides metal stampings, tool and die, and subassembly services from the company's 96,000-sq.-ft. facility in Athens, AL. In 2023, after much contemplation and research, T&C decided to purchase a 330-ton servo press (a Seyi model), believing that the benefits of a servo press would give the firm the competitive advantage it sought to overcome the risk of offshoring. Says the company’s marketing director, Weston Coleman: "A servo press certainly is one way to become more competitive. With the technical aspects of the servo, there are features that allow us to be more efficient and run at higher stroke speeds."
