Timothy Frey: Hatch Stamping, Apprentice
Scholarship amount
- PMA Educational Foundation: $250
- East Michigan District: $250
- Total: $500
Timothy Frey first got into manufacturing in 2020, one year after high school. This was during COVID and Hatch Stamping Company had recently reopened. Timothy started at Hatch as a temporary worker through a service. Within a month, he was hired. Not long after that, Timothy was promoted to a die setter, where he spent about one year before becoming a class A die setter. He then was chosen to be a tool and die apprentice.
Being a tool and die apprentice is a four-year process with four years of on-the-job training and 20 classes that will take roughly three years and 10 months to complete. Timothy has taken two classes so far and everything is going well.
Timothy always wanted to be in the engineering field in high school and when he is finished with his tool and die classes, he plans on continuing his education toward some type of engineering degree (mechanical, electrical, robotic, etc.).
Congratulations, Timothy! We look forward to hearing about your future!
