Daniel McPherson has always enjoyed working with his hands. His teacher, Mr. Ellingsen, helped him find his passion for trade. After Daniel finishes the Automotive Technology course, he plans to move to Colorado and work as a mechanic for two or three years, allowing him to get experience in the industry and try new things.

Daniel has many ideas for his future, some of which include specializing in Toyoda and working in car manufacturing, entering a construction apprenticeship, pursuing an apprenticeship for electrician work, and enrolling in the Advanced Welding Institute in Wisconsin. Daniel plans to try new things and find his passion through dedication and hard work. He believes that being well-rounded and exploring all his options will help him decide exactly what he wants to do in his future.

Daniel’s first work experience in manufacturing was as a student learner at Scot Forge, where he worked in the onsite Metallurgy Lab as an apprentice CNC operator. His work consisted of creating samples for destructive testing, running CNC machinery supervised, and storing testing materials. Daniel currently is a student intern at Super Shox Inc., working in the machine shop as an apprentice machinist. His work consists of manually machining rubber fittings, small metal fittings and other tasks for which he is qualified.

Daniel first discovered his passion for building in middle school by constructing props for a school play. In high school, he built a 1920s-style race car, designed and screen-printed t-shirts, all while earning nearly 150 hours of welding experience. Daniel completed his welding night class with a 96% recovery from shoulder surgery, exemplifying his drive to succeed regardless of obstacles.

Congratulations, Daniel! We look forward to hearing about your future!
