Manufacturing in Indiana - A View from Washington, D.C.
Friday, October 4, 2024
Indianapolis, IN
Policies coming from Washington, D.C. have a direct impact on every manufacturing company in the state of Indiana. This program will feature discussions with U.S. Congressman Jim Banks (R-IN-03), who is running for U.S. Senate, and PMA’s lobbyist in the nation’s capital, Omar S. Nashashibi.
Congressman Banks, the Republican candidate for U.S. Senate from Indiana, will speak about the role that manufacturers play in the Indiana economy and the industry’s importance to the nation. Congressman Banks has a first-row seat to policymaking in Washington, D.C., and were he to serve as the next Senator from Indiana, he will bring a wealth of background to the U.S. Senate.
Omar will provide an insider’s view on efforts in the U.S. Congress to address the tax on R&D activities and preparation for major tax increases after 2025, the latest steps being taken on steel and aluminum tariffs, and which regulations such as an OSHA indoor heat rule and updates to the apprenticeship program could change how Indiana manufacturers run their shops. Omar also will provide a quick preview of how election outcomes in the state and around the country this November could impact policies critical to manufacturing in America, including on tax and trade.
