IN-PLANT TRAINING TOPICS AVAILABLE
Press Technician/Operator Training
Attendees will learn the fundamental principles of how stamping presses and feed lines work. Topics include press construction and components, drive system types (flywheel, servo, hydraulic), understanding tonnage ratings, the use of tonnage monitors, using press controls and operator controls, and understanding point-of-operation safeguarding. Procedures for tailing out the end of a coil, safely loading a new coil, making straightening and feeding adjustments, threading progressive dies, making straightener adjustments, setting the slack loop, and verifying the pilot release timing also are presented. Additional topics may be added to meet the specific needs of your operations. The time required for training is approximately 6 to 8 hours.
Instructor: Dean Phillips, Director of Technical Training
Press Technician/Operator with Setup Responsibility
This program includes all the topics Press Technician/Operator Training plus additional training related to the fundamentals principles of die setup and setting dies safety. Time required for training is approximately 8 to 10 hours.
Instructor: Dean Phillips, Director of Technical Training
Progressive Die Setter Training
Attendees receive in-depth training in press and feed line technology that includes understanding tonnage curves, press energy curves, reverse tonnage and off-center loading. Step-by-step recommendations for removing dies, establishing the shut height, aligning the die, and clamping the die; verifying the die is aligned with the feed system; solder-check step for final die shut height; setting the straightener; setting the feed; establishing the feed angle; setting and verifying the pilot release; and troubleshooting setup problems. The time required for training is typically 6 to 8 hours.
Instructor: Dean Phillips, Director of Technical Training
Die Protection Clinic
Attendees will learn the fundamental principles of die protection and the application of in-die sensors. Topics include die protection theory, control logic, sensor application guidelines, sensor types, sensor selection, testing, wiring and implementation. The time required for training is approximately 5.5 hours. This program also is available virtually, in 90 to 120-minute webinar segments, over multiple days, if desired.
Instructor: Jim Finnerty, Industry Consultant
Press Brake Operator Training
Attendees will learn the fundamental principles of how press brakes function and how to operate them safely. Topics include machine and controls specific to the types of machines used in your plants, tooling types and styles, tool changeover, sheet metal types, job routing, maintenance, troubleshooting and safety. The time required for training is approximately 10 to 12 hours.
Instructor: Dean Phillips, Industry Consultant
Press Maintenance and Safety
Attendees will learn the fundamental principles of press construction, slide guiding systems, press drive systems, clutch and brake fundamentals, counterbalance systems, ram parallelism, bed leveling, routine maintenance checks and press room safety. Attendees will physically perform a complete metal stamping press inspection, analyze the results, and write a maintenance recommendation. Companies must provide hand tools, jacks, indicators, magnetic bases and any special tools that are required for the press inspection(s). The time required for training is approximately 10 to 12 hours
Instructor: Jeff Fredline, Industry Consultant
Tool & Die Technology
Four tool & die specific courses are available, including basic die design fundamentals; designing, building, and maintaining progressive dies; designing and building dies for higher strength steels; and designing and troubleshooting complex draw dies. Each course is approximately 6 to 10 hours in length, depending on the depth of training desired.
Instructor: Dean Phillips, Director of Technical Training
Metal Stamping Technology for Engineers, Managers and Supervisors
A variety of in-depth, process-specific, die design and materials-related training programs are available for employees responsible for planning, estimating, supervising, designing, and troubleshooting metal stamping processes, tool & die operations or launching new tooling programs. The time required for each of training courses varies between 6 to 12 hours.
